Digital Twin Technology
What is the EXPANSE® Digital Twin
The EXPANSE® Digital Twin is is a virtual model that accurately mirrors a physical object or system. It encompasses the object's entire lifecycle, continuously updates with real-time data, and utilizes simulation, machine learning, and reasoning to assist in decision-making.
How does the EXPANSE® Digital Twin work
The object being studied, such as a wind turbine, is equipped with various sensors that monitor key functional areas. These sensors generate data on different aspects of the object's performance, including energy output, temperature, weather conditions, and more. This information is sent to a processing system, which actively applies it to the digital replica.
With the relevant data in place, the digital model can be used to run simulations, analyze performance issues, and develop potential improvements. The ultimate goal is to gain insights that can enhance the original physical entity.
There are many types and variations of a digital twin within the market space, The EXPANSE® Digital Twin is a hybrid twin encompassing the Asset Twin, System Twin, Process Twin and Component Twin.
The advantage of the EXPANSE® Digital Twin
With the EXPANSE® Digital Twin being a modular expandable system, it allows the system to be integrated into almost any existing asset and software platform. Due to the versatile, flexible platform the EXPANSE® Digital Twin can be tailored to either green or brownfield architecture.
The EXPANSE® Digital Twin can 3D simulate in real time:
-
incident management
-
asset identification
-
defect identification
-
traffic conflicts, collisions
-
tunnel closures/openings
-
tunnel fires
-
be used for training and commissioning
